Today is the ONE YEAR anniversary of the publication of my book We’re All Mad Here – which details my experiences with Social Anxiety and Panic Attacks. It’s packed with useful tips and tricks that I’ve picked up over the years. There’s also a good dose of humour and regular use of swear words…
Nobody was more surprised than me that it achieved such rapid success. Particularly when during the launch party (which I organised myself, as I didn’t have money for a fancy campaign or anything), I received an email from ITV asking if I wanted to go on This Moring the following day. At the time (as I’d had a few wines) I was like “Yeah totally, I’d love to go on the show and chat to Phil and Holly). The morning after, was a different story! Someone with Social Anxiety…. on live TV!
Yet, it was testament to the Exposure Therapy techniques that I’d crafted, as they certainly came in handy.
It’s been quite the year and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who bought the book, I truly hope that you’ve found it helpful in some way. I’d also like to thank everyone who supported me, whether in person or online. I’ve met some incredible people and hopefully made friends for life. I’m proud of every single person who deals with mental illness on a daily and keeps on swimming.
It’s NOT a death sentence and you CAN manage it.
Thank you to Natasha Devon MBE for writing the foreword. “Claire is funny, northern and in no way a dick.” I think this quote might be going on my tombstone!
Thank you to my twitter peeps. I can’t list you all as I’d be typing twitter handles forever, but you know who you are.
Once again, thank you to my loyal readers. You’re the strongest and most genuine people I’ve had the pleasure to write for.
As a special anniversary treat, my publisher Jessica Kingsley is offering 20% off, if the book is bought from their website. Just use the code MAD at the checkout to receive the discount. Click HERE to go directly to the webpage.
Remember, “We’re all mad here, I am you are. But I’ll tell you a secret… all the best people are.” – Lewis Carrol.
On the book shelves at Waterstones HQ in London. Naturally I took lots of pictures to show my mum! I might’ve also told everyone in the area that I was the author. (Naturally they presumed I was a nutter).
Book signing at Foyles and I even made it into the window display! The actual window display. Excited, me?
The added bonus of being signed by the author means the store can’t return them. I think I know who’s winning 😉 Muhahahahaha!!!
